We’ve called it the ‘Hipster effect’.
Basically me and my good friend olivia (http://cassettesandcigarettes.tumblr.com/) have undertaken the task of creating one of the those generic hipster blogs.
We want to work out why exactly it is that these ‘tumblr famous’ people are as famous as they are?
Is it because they are unique and inventive? Or simply because they spend hours of the day regurgitating the same old hiptser lark?
We have imagined our tumblr alter-ego Bryony-Ann. She is a combination of both of our minds and our middle names.
The task really at hand is to establish whether tumblr is best used as a medium for meeting like minded people, and sharing interests through photos, quotes, remarks etc or whether is a place for breeding popular culture and can in fact be compared to sites such as facebook and myspace within it’s social aspirations.
The effects so far are as to be expected. Bryony-Ann has already acquired around the same amount of followers as me in about 38 hours, where I have been tumbling for around 5 months now. She has already received numerous ’omg I love your blog’ messages and so far is looking relatively popular.
It will take a lot of work over the next few months and some very constant blogging, but we will keep you updated.
so here it is, check it out: http://hallowedcrowns.tumblr.com/
not that you believe in fate of course, obviously just a wonderful coincidence
It may mean that, but there is the small matter of getting into kings first! but yes yes, you’re right just a lovely, lovely coincidence.
